PHANTOM X by Vertex Audio is a modern high-performance guitar amp simulation designed to deliver the power, depth, and responsiveness of legendary tube amplifiers in a streamlined plugin environment.

Built by a guitarist with nearly 25 years of playing and songwriting experience, PHANTOM X was developed with a clear goal in mind: create a guitar amp plugin that captures the feel, dynamics, and tonal flexibility that real players expect when sitting in front of a world-class amplifier.

The amp architecture draws inspiration from two iconic tonal philosophies. The aggressive low-end punch and saturation of early 90s Rectifier-style amplifiers meets the tight articulation and clarity of early 2000s TriAmp designs, resulting in a versatile platform capable of delivering everything from crushing modern metal rhythms to beautifully glassy clean tones.

Unlike many high-gain amp simulations that focus only on distortion, PHANTOM X was engineered to excel across the entire tonal spectrum. The amplifier core responds dynamically to playing intensity, allowing guitarists to move seamlessly from shimmering clean passages to saturated high-gain leads while maintaining clarity and definition.

The plugin includes a powerful collection of tools designed to support modern guitar production. A built-in transpose engine allows instant alternate tunings without retuning your instrument, while the integrated noise gate and stereo doubler help create tight, wide guitar tones suitable for professional mixes.

Before the amplifier stage, players can shape their signal using a classic Tube Screamer-style overdrive, perfect for tightening low-end response and pushing the amp into controlled saturation. After the amp stage, a versatile effects suite including EQ, delay, reverb, phaser, and tremolo provides additional tonal shaping and creative flexibility.

PHANTOM X also includes 10 professionally matched cabinet impulse responses, carefully selected to complement the amplifier’s tonal characteristics and deliver mix-ready guitar tones immediately.
